Field Personnel

Accurate Balancing Agency’s technicians have developed a reputation for honesty, communication, and tenacity. They are skilled in all areas of TAB including constant volume and variable volume systems. Our technicians have extensive training and experience with all control systems; from older pneumatic systems to the latest direct digital control systems. They are well versed in dealing with a wide variety of air handling and mechanical water systems from remodel retrofits to the latest in variable refrigerant and chilled beam installations. Our technicians are also proficient testing and balancing various types of mechanical water systems including heating, chilled, process water, geo-thermal, domestic, and radiant water applications. Our technicians bring over 80 years of combined TAB experience to our clients.

E. Michael May, Jr
Michael is the President of Accurate Balancing Agency. He is also the firms National Environmental Balancing Bureau (NEBB) Certified Professional and has been with Accurate Balancing Agency since its inception in 1990. He is NEBB certified in the fields of Air and Water Balancing as well as Sound and Vibration Measurement. Never completely satisfied with sitting behind a desk Michael still enjoys getting out in the field and helping the team deliver a quality product. Mike is proficient in all areas of TAB work including air and water balancing, duct leakage testing, fire life safety / smoke control balancing, clean room and pressure critical balancing, as well as fume hood certification. He brings over 30 years of experience to the projects he oversees. He particularly enjoys troubleshooting HVAC deficiencies and teaming with the related parties to bring them to resolution. 

Tommy Takemoto
Tommy is a NEBB Certified TAB technician who has been with Accurate Balancing Agency since 2003. Steady and reliable, Tommy is skilled in all areas of TAB including air and water balancing as well as commercial kitchen work. He has the heart of a teacher and enjoys staff development. Tommy has a team attitude and has received multiple letters of commendation for his attention to detail. 

Chris Cawthern
Chris came to ABA in 2022 with 25 years of experience as a TAB Technician. Chris is accomplished in the fields of air and water balancing and with his background in commissioning has a trained eye for making buildings work efficiently. He embraces the challenges involved with more technically complex projects and his technological acumen has already made him a valuable asset for the team. In his off time Chris enjoys being a cat dad and local radio celebrity as well as spending quality with his wife.  

Callahan Maxwell
Callahan is a NEBB Certified TAB Technician who has been with ABA since 2014. During that time he has grown into an indispensable member of the ABA team. He has already proven his desire for knowledge as well as an aptitude for this industry; in particular air balancing, water balancing, and duct leakage testing. Callahan displays a talent for efficiency as well as being able to visualize the process of TAB work on a project specific basis. He resides in central Oregon, but helps out in town when needed.  

Stuart Smith
Stuart has been with ABA since 2014 and has over 30 years of TAB experience as a TAB Technician. As such he has evolved alongside the industry and embraced the many changes in HVAC technology. He is a versatile technician and team player who has a talent for troubleshooting and problem solving. Stuart is experienced in both air and water balancing as well as duct leakage testing. Stuart lives in central Oregon, but has been known to help out in the Willamette Valley as well. .

Zak Smith
Zak is a TAB Technician who has been with ABA since 2018. He has become a valuable member of the ABA team over these past years. He is proficient in the tasks of air balancing and troubleshooting; a team player Zak does what it takes to get the job done. Zak enjoys 3D printing and creating industrial art in his off time. 

Tristam Kerrigan
Tristram has been with ABA since 2021 and is working through the technician in training program. He has come into his own with knowledge gained during his time with us. Tristram is an outdoorsman at heart and enjoys kayaking and hiking around the Pacific Northwest. 

Mark Morrow
Mark has been with ABA since 2022 and came to our organization with 25 years of HVAC experience. He has been quick to apply his specialized background to the field of TAB and has been instrumental in assisting other technicians to bring projects to timely completion. He is eager to expand his scope of knowledge in this industry.
